Biteback creates products to help combat itching in horses: forming a physical barrier to biting bugs, maintaining healthy skin and encouraging hair re-growth.
Biteback Sweet Relief Cream is a plant-based cream that forms a barrier against midge bites, while soothing itchiness and supporting calm skin.
It’s ideal for horses that are bothered by midges and have a tendency to rub themselves after being bitten. It's also useful for feather mites, due to its slippery finish.
Traditional, safe ingredients include: benzyl benzoate to help stabilise the barrier function of the acid mantle; benzyl alcohol soothes an itch; allantoin which assists cell regeneration, and bog myrtle oil – an aromatic fragrance that has historically been associated with discouraging midges. It does NOT contain any Neem.
- Forms a physical barrier, preventing midge bites
- Minimises rubbing by moisturising, hydrating and soothing the skin
- Quick results: skin should start to appear rejuvenated within a week
- Used by horse owners for 12 years with consistently excellent feedback
Directions for use: We suggest using this product on intact skin (if there are abrasions, look at using our Silver cream in the first instance). Always patch test first. Apply daily to mane, tail and other target areas from early spring through to Autumn. Using fingers, apply a thin layer to the skin, massaging right into any toughened areas.
It can also be used on skin where excess keratin has led to hardened patches.
Due to some oil content, we don’t advise applying in the heat of the summer sun – either apply early morning/ evening, or look at Sweet Sun Relief cream instead, which has a 30+ SPF.
A 500ml pot should last for 3 weeks in high season.
All of our products are plant-based, cruelty free, vegan and environmentally kind. They are also FEI legal.
