Equitie is the safer way to tether your horse. For safety reasons it is advisable to tether horses with a deliberate breakpoint between the horse and the securing ring. However, finding a breakpoint that is certain to give way in an emergency is not easy. A loop of bailer twine is commonly used but can be unreliable. The answer is Equitie.
Equitie’s advanced design using durable rubber and an easy-release clip means it is strong enough to secure your horse but provides an instant, reliable breakpoint should your horse panic. The clip lets you move Equitie easily and adjust its size, making it ideal for the stable, yard or horse float. It also looks far more attractive and professional than that ugly bailer twine.
- Strong yet flexible
- Easily moved
- Weather resistant
- Ideal for stable, yard or float
- Made in England
- Available in pink, blue, black and lilac
Equities are designed for use with a good horse, which ties up well but may occasionally startle. If your horse fidgets, a V-Tie may be more suitable for you and your horse as it has a higher strength break point and is re-useable. If your horse pulls back when tied up or you are training a young horse, consider the Idolo tether tie which is designed for this purpose and trains horses to tie up safely and confidently using pressure and release.

Q. Can I be sure my Equitie will break?
A. Yes, Equitie has been extensively tested and will reliably break under pressure. If your horse does startle and pull back the Equitie will stretch. If it reaches its maximum extension it will softly give way, freeing your horse's leadrope.
Q. Where can I use my Equitie?
A. An Equitie can be used anywhere you want to tie up a horse - stable, yard, float etc. Just be aware of tying up a horse where they can reach for grass as this could cause the Equitie to stretch and break.
Q. How long should my Equitie last?
A. Assuming your horse does not pull back sharply and break the Equitie, it has a life span of approximately 2 years either kept indoors or outdoors.
Q. My Equitie gave way, but the rubber did not break?
A. Check that you have threaded the Equitie rubber cord through the plastic clip correctly and secured it in the gripper. See below for instructions on how to use the Equitie.
Q. My horse pulled back and my Equitie has snapped, is this supposed to happen?
A. Yes, if your horse pulls back sharply, the Equitie will break. It is designed to break before other equipment (ie headcollar, leadrope) and then be replaced.
Q. Can I buy replacement rubber cords for my Equitie?
A. No, Equitie is a low value product and once broken will need to be replaced.
Q. I have a very fidgety pony and I am finding that the Equitie is breaking too easily. I don’t want to go back to using bailer twine, what should I do?
A. Equitie is designed for use with a good horse, which may occasionally startle. Equitie will break and then be replaced. If this is happening too often, a V-Tie may be more suitable for you and your horse as it has a higher strength break point and is re-useable. Alternatively, you may like to try the Idolo Tether Tie.
