These revolutionary tail thinners will THIN thick tails and give the pulled look without discomfort.
A full tail can be transformed to a "pulled" tail ready for the show ring in minutes and they can be used on the most sensitive of animals. The blades are made from high quality Scandinavian steel and manufactured in Germany.
Smart Tails is available in two ranges - the standard (disposable) range and the yellow-handled easi-grip range, which allows you to replace and interchange the blades.
The standard range is a plastic-handled tool with a fixed blade. This is a disposable product and tidies 10-20 manes or tails, depending on the thickness of the hair being thinned. These blades cannot be re-sharpened. If you expect to use the Smart Tails regularly, you may wish to consider the Easi-grip yellow-handled range, which features replaceable blades.
Before and after Smart Tails
Dogs and cats
Smart Tails can be used on long-haired dogs and cats to remove the thick undercoat, dematt the coat and take out loose moulting hair. They leave the coat thinned, tidy and more easily managed. The narrow blade width is ideal for smaller animals and precision work. If you have a large dog, you may want to consider a Smart Manes or Smart Coats as their wider blades cover a large area more quickly.
Is it easy to use Smart Tails?
Yes, you will not believe how easy it is! Simply comb the Smart Tails through the hair and repeat several times over thick areas.

Which blade should I choose?
Once you have chosen which Smart Tails range suits your needs, you need to choose a blade type. All of the blades will give good results but to achieve the best results you should match the blade to your horse's hair type.
Coarse blades (7 teeth) - are good for thick full tails which have not been tidied before or are very coarse. This blade will process a large amount of thick hair easily and efficiently leaving a tidy looking finish. The coarse is also very good on natives that are being shown, when the end result needs to look tidy but untouched.
Medium blades (10 teeth) - are good for the average type of tail and will cope with medium-to-soft hair. Probably the best option if you are not sure of your horse's hair type.
Fine blades (19 teeth) - are mostly used on hair which has already been tidied or is quite fine. It is also useful to put the finishing touches to a thick tail when a show finish or very close finish is needed and the bulk of the tail has already been shaped with a coarser blade.
